Chapter Seven
Andrew stared at the wedding invite and saw that his picture along with his name and every thing is there.
Is his mother crazy or what? He thought as he stared at Sofia who was grinning at him.
“She is just doing what is best for her only son”Sofia replied with a smile.
“Well tell her that her son will get married when it’s time for him to, not with this coercion”he said as he tore the wedding invite
“That cost a fortune!”Sofia yelled when he tore the invite.
“I don’t care, if my mother has the time to waste money on this kind of thrash then I can easily get rid of it. Now you listen! Go back to Australia and cancel whatever thing you are doing cause I won’t be showing up ” Andrew said to her.
“You will! Do you think your mom will let this slide, you know her! You know how she gets when you are like this, you won’t like the outcome”Sofia said
“Whatever she does am willing to take, after all am my mother’s son,Now leave before I lose my patience with you”Andrew said moving towards the door to open it for her.
She took her bag heading for the door when she stopped to glare at him.
“And one more thing Sofia, tell my mom that I will be coming back to Australia next week and I will be bringing my fiancee”He added giving her a smile before closing the door on her face.
He went back to his desk feeling angry, how dare they plan a wedding for him,he thought as he picked up his phone, calling for the New concept department.
She had left without him getting to finish their discussion, he hadn’t meant to kiss her but her persistence in lying got him riled up.
With out him realising it, he touched his lips softly and smiled.
He has to plan it well if he wants to succeed in this, after all he has just told Sofia that he will be bringing his fiancee with him to Australia next week. If he wants to succeed, he has to put in much effort and it has to start now.

“Claire? Claire? Down to earth girl!”Peter yelled suddenly and Claire whose mind had been somewhere else stared at him.
“Where have you been, have been talking for a while now and you have been day dreaming”Peter said a bit annoyed
“Sorry! I was just thinking about some thing”
“It can’t possibly be a new idea,your face always glow whenever you think of some thing but this time you look a bit moody and come to think of it, you have been like that ever since you came back from seeing you know who? What did he say to you?”Peter asked forcing Claire to remember the kiss they both shared.
“Nothing! He only told me what he thinks of the new project and has asked me to use some of his ideas”Claire lied
“Really?”Peter asked clearly not convinced.
“Yes it is”She replied knowing that if Peter sense some thing about her relationship with their boss, he would certainly quiz her about it and having to talk about Andrew Black is the last thing she wanted right now, in fact she just wants to forget any thing that has to do with him.
Just then Grace walked into the office and judging by the look on her face,Claire could tell that she has one or two office gossip to tell.
“Guys! Guys! Guys! Do you know who I just saw? Its Sofia Belmont ,The sexiest actress in Hollywood, she came to see the big boss himself”Grace said
“Did you get her autograph or better yet did you take pictures of her”Brenda asked.
So the lady who had interrupted them had been Sofia Belmont, Claire thought as she listened for more gossip from Grace.
“Rumour has it that they are both seeing each other”Grace added
“Do you think it’s serious or its just a fling?”Brenda asked
“What do you think? Every one wants to date Sofia Belmont and if she is seeing the boss then certainly it’s serious”Grace added as she showed Brenda the picture she took of Sofia Belmont.
One trouble off her mind, Claire thought to herself, if he is seeing Sofia then definitely there is no way that he will get married to some one like her, she is neither beautiful,sexy or famous like Sofia Belmont.
So if he is seeing Sofia there can never be a wedding between him and her.She thought as she smiled to herself.
“Stop with the gossip and find some thing to do” Peter said to Grace and Brenda.
Just then the phone rang and Grace went to pick it up.
“Yes sir! She is here”Grace replied starring at Claire
“I can certainly put you through to her”Grace said still starring at Claire
“Who?”Claire mouthed at her but instead of answering, Grace brought the phone to her .
“Its the big boss,he wants to talk to you”Grace said gently and before Claire could reject the call, Grace was already going back to Brenda to continue her discussion.
Conscious of her colleagues, she picked the call.
“Hello”She said softly
“Come see me! Some things have to be discussed”He said
“We have…..we have nothing more to talk about sir”She stopped herself from saying some thing off when she saw Peter watching her.
“We have to talk, sharing a kiss isn’t something we can just discard”He said
“We don’t have to talk about it”Claire replied
“Do I have to use force to get you to talk to me”He asked
“Even if you do I won’t go” She replied softly
“Fine! I won’t use force but instead I will use work, bring your latest idea to me,I want to see “He said again
“Sure sir”She replied quickly and cut the call before he could say more.
“Grace! The boss wants you to bring over the latest idea we have thought of recently, kindly take it to him”Claire said as she stood up to return the phone.
“But why me?”Grace asked
“Cause you are the youngest and newest employee here”Claire replied
“Fine and I don’t mind, as long as I get to see his handsome face”Grace said excitedly, she took the document and her laptop and left the department.
Claire smiled to herself, he would be expecting to see her but he would also be surprised to see Grace.
Knowing that he and Sophia Belmont is an item isn’t a relaxing thought for her, she must do her best to avoid him, she thought fiercely.

“So how is he taking it?”Ben asked through the receiver
“Not as bad as I thought”Claire replied as she sat in the lounge located in the first floor.
Not wanting to know the outcome of Grace meeting with Andrew, she decided to leave the office for a while.
She was coming back from having visited the company cafeteria when Ben called.
“No suing or anything?”Ben continued.
“No! No suing”Claire replied
“What about you? It all happened in your restaurant, hope things aren’t bad for you?”Claire asked
“My restaurant is booming as ever, thanks to Nick and Andrew, the female guest were all bowled over by it last night, I think most of them came just to see Andrew and Nick again”Ben said and Claire smiled, feeling relieved.
“You would have to come to the restaurant tonight, so many customers to serve”Ben said
“I will, thanks for calling”Claire replied as she switched off her phone.
Claire headed back to the office, Grace would be back by now and Andrew would have realised that she didn’t want to see him.
She got to the office only to see the three of them busy with work as usual.
“Did the meeting go well?”She asked grace who was busy typing some thing
“It did,he said the first Idea is the best and that we should use it for the project” Grace replied
“Did he say some thing else?”Claire asked
“Nothing! He didn’t say anything?”Grace replied as she kept on typing.
Great! He finally gets the message, she thought as she went to look at the new designs Peter was creating at his desk.
She was typing some files into her laptop when Grace suddenly yelled out.
“What’s wrong?”Brenda asked
“That scream could kill some one”Peter added
“Its just that I forgot, I forgot to tell you that the boss is coming here to check on our project”Grace said as she stared at her watch.
“He should be on his way”She added as she stood up stacking her stuff properly.
“You should have said some thing earlier”Peter said as he picked up the dirt he had placed around his seat while Brenda took out her glass to touch up her make up.
Claire was the only one who sat still not doing a thing, he was coming and he will be here soon. She thought as she stood up suddenly frightening them all
“What now!”Peter yelled having been scared twice
“I need to use the rest room”she said, taking her cup of coffee along with her,she left the room heading towards the elevator only to see it being used. Probably him coming,she thought as she turned towards the stairs.
She was walking off in a rush when she slipped and fell hard on the floor spilling her coffee on her clothes.
“Claire?”she turned only to see him standing in front of the elevator starring at her.
Quickly she got up entering the door that led to the stairs, running as far as she could.
She didn’t make it to the next set of stairs when some one pulled her back.
She turned to see Andrew starring at her and also holding one of her heels in his hand.
It must have slipped while trying to escape from him, so much as trying to escape from him, she thought as she felt embarrassed.
“Running from me again?”He asked as he held her hand tight.
“I….I wasn’t running, I …I….I needed to get some fresh air, yes! Some fresh air”She lied quickly
“Some fresh air you say? Why didn’t you just use the lift then?”He asked
“I didn’t feel like it, using the stairs is a form of exercise”She replied
“Liar”He said after starring at her for a while.
“Wh…what do you mean, I just….I”She stopped when she had nothing to say.
“I told you to stop avoiding me? Why do you keep on doing it”he asked
Do you really have to ask? She thought as she stared at him in silence
“Is it because of the kiss?”He asked
“Of course not!”She yelled quickly
“Then why”he asked as he moved close to her
“Why Claire?”He asked pressing for an answer
“Its because…..because…..will you please move, I can’t talk with you coming close”She said shrinking into the wall.
“Fine then”he replied as he moved away.
“You don’t have to tell me why you are avoiding me but instead have dinner with me after work today”He said
“What?”
“Like I said, we have things to talk about and we must do that today”he said as he knelt in front of her taking hold of her leg to put it back in her shoe.
He stared up at her and gave her a smile before saying.
“Dinner at seven,Ben restaurant, you know where it is, I don’t need to tell you, See you”he said as he began climbing the stairs.
“Have not even told you if am going or not”Claire said and he stopped to stare at her.
“You will go Claire, I want you there, don’t make me use force with you”he said and walked off leaving Claire at the foot of the stairs.
