Chapter fourteen
Mark walked into Andrew suite to find him seated in his living room, papers all sprawled in front of him while he went through a file.
“What’s this? I thought you would be out on a date or something “Mark said as he put down his overnight bag.
“As you can see am not out on date like you think”Andrew replied as he went back to his file.
“Is something up, you always do this when you are stressed out”Mark asked
“What makes you think am stressed out?”Andrew asked
“This!”he replied pointing at the tense way Andrew gripped the pen he was holding.
“You do that every time you are stressedq, tell me what’s wrong? Does it have to do with Miss Claire”He asked and wanting to let it all out, Andrew told him what happened the day before.
“You really messed things up”Mark said
“I was just jealous, I thought she still liked the chef and so I…..”
“You forced a kiss on her and now she thinks you pity her “Mark finished for him
“Pity Is the last thing I feel towards her, I didn’t have that thought in mind when I proposed”Andrew added
“But she thinks other wise, what you have to do now is to go and convince her”
“You think I haven’t think about that ? She was quite angry with me,I was thinking I should give her sometime to…..”
“Don’t! You mustn’t let your guard down, while you wait what if Ben is now with her trying to win her back, it will be a loss for you”Mark said quickly
“You are right!”
“Leave all of this to me and go to her, tell her or better yet show her how much you love her and if she tries her best to ignore you, fight for her, you never give up when it comes to business, so don’t you give up on her”Mark advice and quickly Andrew went to change trying to get ready as fast as he could.

“I don’t want to have anything to do with you again!”Andrew said in Claire dream.
“And am telling you that we still have a lot to do with each other, for one we are getting married” Sofia replied
“And you think I will get married to you after what you did?”Andrew asked
“I just did it for fun Andrew, you should get over it and act like a man, you were dedicated to your work while knowing we were engaged and so I had to dedicate myself to someone else too, I ended it when you found out and you want to know why I did that? That’s because I still love you”Sofia retorted angrily
“Well I don’t love you,get that into your head and leave”He said
“Its all because of her right? Its all because of this slut, well we will see who gets to win, you will be marrying me and that is final”She said and as soon as she walked out of the room, Claire opened her eyes.
Its all just a dream, she thought as layed on the bed again.
That was why their engagement ended, Sofia had cheated on Andrew and now she is trying to get him back.
And what was that about the marriage stuff, if he had planned to marry Sofia why did he propose to her? She thought as she tried to reason out the whole situation.
“Am not going to think about him. You! Andrew Black is out of my mind for good”She said fiercely.
Once she gives her resignation first thing Monday morning, she won’t have a reason to see him again, with that thought in her head, she got out bed.
It was ten in the morning, she must have slept for a very longtime, she thought as she decended the stairs in her pyjamas.
Her grandma must be in the sitting room, she thought as she heard her voice in the sitting room. she went to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
The sitting room was designed to face the kitchen and the kitchen being an open space,they could see whatever was going on from the sitting room.
She stood scratching her hair and her back when she saw Nick taking her most prized pasta.
“What the hell are doing! I told you never to touch that! “she yelled as she ran towards Nick grabbing it from him
“Its just that we have a special occasion today and I suggest you go and get changed quickly, you look horrid”He said only to receive a smack on the back
“What special occasion? And what does my having to change got to do with it….Grandma, Nick is after my…..Arrrrrrghhh!!!”Claire yelled when she saw Andrew seated with her grand ma starring at her.
“I tried to warn you”Nick said softly
“We have a special guest,that’s why we are cooking your most prized pasta”Her grandma said giving her a smile.
“You should have told me”Claire said as she quickly ran back upstairs.
She closed her door and went to the bathroom to look at herself.
Nick was right, she looked horrid, she thought as she thought about Andrew seeing her this way.
“Am a fool”she muttered .
“I hope am not troubling you?”Andrew said as he stared at Celine Maxwell
“Of course not, you are Claire boss, how can you possibly trouble us”Celine replied as Nick set the table
“Apart from being Claire boss, he is also my friend, having a rich friend is something huge grandma”Nick said
He had just wanted to speak to Claire but instead Nick had invited him and had introduced him to his grandmother.
They told him Claire was still asleep and decided to entertain him before he leave.
He was already thinking of a way to leave when she came down.
She looks different if she just gets out of bed and even though her hair is in disarray and her pyjamas looks like one of a seventeen year old, she still look lovely, he thought as he remembered her expression on seeing him.
“I hope I didn’t catch Claire at a bad time ?”He asked
“Of course not”Celine replied giving him a smile
“Of course he did! You know how she gets each time people see her just getting out of bed. Serves her right! She should have just woken up early “Nick said only to be given a warning look by his grandma.
“Let’s go have breakfast, you will really enjoy the pasta, Claire doesn’t just call it her most prized pasta for nothing “Claire grandmother said as they went to the table.
They were half way through the meal when Claire showed up.
She was dressed in a fitting jeans topped with a white shirt, it looked fitting on her and it is the first time he would see her in a pair of jeans.
” I thought you weren’t going to come down,I wanted to eat yours too”Nick said and she hissed at him before settling beside her grandma.
She gave him a questioning look before looking away.
She must be wondering why he was there, he thought as he as ate a mouthful of pasta.
Though his attention was solely taken by her grandma, she finally found a way to corner him and ask the question that have been bothering her all day.
She had been expecting him to come to her first but he was busy being a perfect guest, Clearly her grandma and Nick certainly fell for his charms but not her.
While her grandma went upstairs to get something and Nick went to make a call, she pulled him out of the house.
“Now,Tell me why you are here?” She asked
“To see you “he replied
“I thought I made it clear yesterday,you don’t have to show me your pity and …….”
“I don’t feel pity towards you Claire”He said suddenly cutting her off.
“Really? Why do I not believe it”Claire asked
He moved towards her and held her by her arms.
“Its because I haven’t shown you how I really feel towards you Claire” he said looking all serious
“And what do you feel towards me? Or forget it, forget I asked that question instead tell me when you will leave, I still have to take grandma to the hospital for her check up “Claire said as she tried to pull away but he held her to him.
“What are you doing! Let go”she said as she struggled to be realeased.
“Have been dying to do this all morning”he said and claimed her lips.
Claire stood still, wanting to pull away but she found herself melting into his arms while he kissed her.
She moaned softly and he used that opportunity to plunge into her mouth, kissing her deeply.
They have just been kissing for a few minutes but it felt like hours, Claire thought as he pulled away to stare at her.
“Do you understand now?”he asked
“Understand what?”she asked in return
“Why have been dying to kiss you?”he asked and for a while she stood still just starring at him, trying to read his thoughts through the look he gave her.
She moved away from him, putting her hand to her lips.
“I don’t understand a thing and you should stop kissing me, it’s becoming a habit”she said as she tried to move past him but he held her back.
“What are the two of you doing out here?” Her grandma asked as she stood in the door way.
“I was just talking to Claire”Andrew replied as he let go of Claire hand.
“If you have finished talking, I would like to ask you to take Claire and I to the hospital for my check up”Her grandma said
“We can take the bus Grandma”Claire said quickly
“It takes a while before we get to see a bus, having him take us will also save money, am trying to be frugal here, is it a good or bad thing Andrew?”Celine asked
“Its a good thing , being frugal is best at times like this, i will gladly take you to the hospital”he said as he took her hand and helped her towards his car.
While Claire went to get her purse, Celine pulled Andrew aside and gave him a long look before asking.
“You like my granddaughter right?”
The question took Andrew off guard but he nodded anyway.
“I like Claire”He replied and she stood thinking deeply for a while.
“Did you perhaps propose marriage to her?”Celine asked again and he nodded wondering why she asked
“I did but she keeps refusing”He replied only to earn a smile from her
“If you did propose marriage to her then definitely you are the guy In her dream”She said
“The guy in her what?”
“You won’t understand, only Claire and I do, she should have told me that you were him,what a naughty girl “Celine said as she got into the car.
Andrew thought about what she said,trying to make sense of it but when nothing seemed to form, he let it go, at least he knew that she had dreamt about him and that’s fine with him.
